Description
Elena Redaelli has a Master Degree (2000) and a Ph.D. (2004) in Materials Engineering, both from Politecnico di Milano. Her scientific activity has considered various aspects related with the durability of reinforced concrete, including: characterisation of concrete with respect to reinforcement corrosion, performance-based methods of durability design, inspection and diagnosis of existing structures, conservation methods for modern concrete structures, electrochemical techniques for protection from corrosion, FEM models of phenomena related with corrosion.
Several international collaborations have been carried out, as for instance with BRE Building Research Establishment in Garston (UK), TNO Building and Construction Research in Delft (NL) and Zhejiang University in Hangzhou (PRC). Since 2005 she has worked as an assistant professor in the field of Materials Science and Technology and she has taught Construction Materials to Engineering students. She has been supervisor and co-supervisor of more than 40 theses of bachelor degree and master degree and one Ph.D. thesis.
