Description

Laura Longoni, was born in Cant˘, Italy, October 8th, 1977. She received her Masterís Degree in Environmental Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2002. From 2000 to 2002 she worked as environmental engineer for Enelpower S.p.A. From 2003 to 2007 she was a grant researcher at Politecnico di Milano. From 2007 she is Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental, Hydraulic, Infrastructures and Surveying Engineering. Her teaching and research activities mainly address engineering geology problems, with a particular focus on landslide monitoring and modelling. Her studies currently involve innovative monitoring system for mass movements and find applications in the area of civil protection and safety issues.
Since 2005 she is a member of the founding board of the Politecnico internal project PROMETEO about hazard management. At present, she is involved in the national project SOCRATE, that aims at developing an integrated monitoring approach for real time forecasting of hydrogeological risks, intended to serve as a reference for civil protection institutions. She is also taking part to the INTERREG project MIARIA, whose major goal is to develop an integrated approach for real time monitoring of alpine scenarios subject to hydrogeological risks.
She has worked as a consultant for several institutions at regional and national level, dealing with hydrogeological issues associated to landslides and rockfalls, solid transport, tunnel stability, floods and abandoned underground mines. Since 2002 she works as national consultant on hydrogeological hazards for the National Fire Corps.
She has published more than 70 papers in international journals and conference proceedings (national and international).
